Our Non-Profit

IMG_3803If you’re like many people today, then you have been impacted by cancer in some way. It is an awful disease that affects the lives of millions each year, including many of our own here at US Storage Centers. So, we started a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization to raise money for research programs into rare cancers.

Kure It was formed shortly after the Chairman and Founder of WPI and US Storage Centers Barry Hoeven was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1998. Upon receiving his diagnosis he discovered that rare cancers have little to no treatments available due to the lack of research and clinical trials. However, many treatments for more commonly known cancers are often born out of rare cancer and innovative research programs. So, the quest began to create an organization with the sole mission of raising money for the best cutting edge research programs throughout the country that hold great promise in developing new cures and treatments for rare cancers and beyond.

Since 2007, Kure It has been taking the fight to cancer by raising and funding over $3,800,000 worth of research programs within some of the most prestigious hospitals throughout the country including City of Hope, Cedars Sinai, USC’s Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.

One novel way that US Storage Centers helps in raising money for Kure It is through our program called ‘Round Up for Research’. This program gives our customers a chance to get involved by rounding up their self storage rent by only $.50 and US Storage Centers will match their donation 100%. In fact, US Storage Centers will match just about any donation 100% be it through Round Up for Research or a one time gift. We know many of our customers either have had cancer or are in midst of battling cancer in someway. So, this is our way of not only showing support but taking the fight to cancer. And this is a fight we will win!
